Information Regarding Proposed Changes to Accountability

On Tuesday, February 28, 2012, the State Board of Education will consider changes to the methodology used to calculate school grades. There has been significant media coverage of this issue and many parents may have questions regarding the how the proposed rule changes may impact their children and the schools which they attend. To facilitate parents’ understanding of the changes being proposed by the Florida Department of Education, as well as the alternative recommendations which have been forwarded for consideration, the attached documents. In addition, several editorials which have appeared in media outlets across the state have been included to help illustrate the statewide concern regarding this impending action.
